As per the official update, UPSC has made available the Recruitment 2026-27 notification for 480 Engineering Services Examination openings . The online application process will be conducted from 16 September 2026 to 6 October 2026. shortlisted applicants may submit through the government portal, upsc.gov.in.

UPSC ESE 2027 Vacancy Details
  • The number of posts to be filled on the basis of the results of ESE 2027 is expected to be approximately 480, including 19 openings reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) - 11 for Locomotor Disability, as well as the remainder distributed across Hard of Hearing, Low Vision, as well as Specific Learning Disability & Multiple Disabilities categories, as detailed below. Nationality
  • A candidate must be either a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal, a subject of Bhutan, a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 01.01.1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or specified East African countries or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India (subject to a certificate of criteria from the Government of India for the latter categories).
Educational Qualification
  • Interested applicants should know that, For admission to the examination, a candidate must have:
  • Obtained a degree in Engineering from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India, or another educational institution established by an Act of Parliament or deemed a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956; OR
  • Passed Sections A along with B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India); OR
  • According to the latest notice, Obtained a degree/diploma in Engineering from a recognised foreign University/College/Institution; OR
  • As per the official update, Passed the Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics along with Telecommunication Engineers (India); OR
  • Passed the Associate Membership Examination Parts II in addition to III/Sections A in addition to B of the Aeronautical Society of India; OR
  • Passed the Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics in addition to Radio Engineers, London (held after November 1959).
  • For the posts of Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics Engineering) as well as Indian Radio Regulatory Service Group 'A', an M.Sc. degree or equivalent with Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics, or Radio Engineering as a special subject is furthermore accepted, as specified in the notification.

UPSC ESE 2027 Application Fee

UPSC ESE 2027 Important Instructions
  • aspirants must ensure they fulfil all requirements conditions for admission to the examination; admission at all stages is purely provisional, subject to satisfying the prescribed criteria criteria. Issue of an e-Entry pass does not imply final clearance of candidature - the Commission verifies criteria with reference to original documents only after a candidate qualifies for the Personality Test/Interview.
