- Possession of a valid driving licence for Light along with Heavy Motor Vehicles
- The department has confirmed that, Knowledge of motor mechanism (able to remove minor defects in vehicles)
- At least three years of experience driving Light in addition to Heavy Motor Vehicles
- Pass in the 10th standard from a recognised Board or institute
- Desirable qualification: three years of service as a Home Guard or Civil Volunteer.
Category 3: Armed Forces personnel (deputation/re-employment)
- Armed Forces personnel due to retire, or due to be transferred to reserve within one year, in addition to possessing the requisite experience in addition to qualifications, will additionally be considered.
