Educational Qualification

NET, SLET or SET Exemption for Ph.D. Candidates
  • Aspirants are advised that, Aspirants who registered for an M.Phil. or Ph.D. programme before 11 July 2009 may be exempted from NET, SLET or SET, subject to fulfilment of the prescribed conditions, including:
  • The Ph.D. degree must have been awarded in regular mode.
  • The Ph.D. thesis must have been evaluated by at least two external examiners.
  • An open Ph.D. viva voce must have been conducted.
  • The official notification states that, The candidate must have published at least two research papers from the Ph.D. work, including at least one paper in a refereed journal.
  • Candidates should note that, The candidate must have made at least two conference or seminar presentations based on the Ph.D. work.
  • Compliance with these conditions must be certified by the competent university authority.
Desirable Qualification

Age Relaxation
  • A relaxation of five years in the upper age limit is admissible to meeting criteria bonafide applicants belonging to the following Himachal Pradesh categories, subject to the conditions specified in the notification:
  • SC of Himachal Pradesh
  • ST of Himachal Pradesh

Application Fee

Selection Process
  • The HPPSC Assistant Professor Anthropology hiring procedure includes the following stages:
  • Paper I – Objective Type Screening Test
  • Paper II – Descriptive Subject Aptitude Test

Paper I: Objective Screening Test
  • Paper I will be conducted as a Computer Based Test or offline screening test. It will carry 100 marks along with have a duration of one hour.
Paper II: Subject Aptitude Test

Negative Marking
  • One-fourth of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for every incorrect answer in Paper I.
  • According to the latest notice, If more than one answer is marked, it will be treated as incorrect along with the same penalty will send in.
  • As per the official update, test-takers who do not want to answer a question must select option “E”.
  • The official notification states that, If no option is chosen, one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.
Minimum Qualifying Marks
  • The Personality Test will carry 30 marks as well as will be held at the HPPSC office in Shimla. Final ranking will be determined using the marks obtained in the Subject Aptitude Test in addition to Personality Test.
Examination Centre
  • The notified examination station is Shimla . However, HPPSC may change or allot a different examination centre depending on administrative requirements along with the availability of computer test laboratories.
