5. Unit V - Chemometrics, Quality Management & Report Writing
  • Chemometrics: mean, mode, median, standard deviation, variance, coefficient of variation, t-test, chi-square test, ANOVA, multivariate analysis (PCA, PLS, cluster analysis, discriminant analysis)
  • Quality Management Systems: ISO/IEC 17025:2017, ISO 21043, ISO 9001, accreditation, certification, calibration, proficiency testing, LOD, LOQ, verification along with validation
  • Laboratory Information Management Systems: data protection, traceability, transparency

  • Ethics in forensic science
7. Unit VII - Basics of Physical, Inorganic and Organic Chemistry
  • Properties of alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, aromatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, phenols, carboxylic acids, aldehydes, ketones, amines, nitro compounds
  • Stereochemistry: R/S along with P/M nomenclature, biaryls, allenes, asymmetric synthesis, pericyclic reactions
  • Proteins: classification, structure, properties, molecular weight determination, isoelectric point, coagulation, denaturation
  • Carbohydrates, fats as well as lipids: classification, structure along with reactions
  • Alkaloids: classification, isolation along with identification
8. Unit VIII - Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances
  • Definition, types, appearance, production in addition to chemical characteristics; designer drugs, mode of administration, pharmacological action
  • Plants of narcotic importance: Papaver somniferum, Cannabis sativa, Coca plant as well as their active constituents
