Deputy Commissioner Office Gadag (DC Office Gadag) has published the Recruitment 2026 notification for Pourakarmika posts. A total of 154 posts have been made available under this recruitment drive. The online application process will be conducted from 28 August 2026 to 30 September 2026. Interested aspirants can register online through the authorized site, gadag.nic.in.

Gadag Pourakarmika Recruitment 2026-27 Vacancy Details

A total of 154 direct-payment Pourakarmika posts are vacant in the Gadag-Betageri City Municipal Council, out of a total sanctioned strength of 308 Pourakarmika posts (calculated according to the norm of 1 post per 700 population, against a 2024 population of 2,09,474).

Of the 154 vacant posts, 15 posts (10%) are reserved for meeting criteria legal heirs (spouse, parents, or children) of persons who died under circumstances covered by the Manual Scavengers Act. If suitable applicants are not available under this reservation, these posts will be filled from other categories as per procedure. The notification clarifies that this direct-payment recruitment process does not fall under the Karnataka Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes as well as Other Backward Classes (Reservation) Act, therefore standard caste-based reservation does not register to this recruitment in the same manner as regular government recruitment, though the Social Welfare Department's opinion may be sought where relevant.

Applicants must be Indian citizens. Only applicants fulfilling the minimum age along with language criteria are meeting criteria to send in; there is no relaxation available in age.

Candidates should note that, Age must be substantiated with educational certificates, Aadhaar Card, ration card, voter ID, or other valid age-proof documents. No age relaxation is available under this recruitment.

Gadag Pourakarmika Recruitment 2026-27 Application Fee

The application fee must be paid via Demand Draft (DD), drawn in favour of the Project Director, District Urban Development Cell, Deputy Commissioner's Office, Gadag. Applications submitted without the fee, or without the entire set of documents specified in the application document, will not be considered.

Gadag Pourakarmika Recruitment 2026-27 Selection Process

Selection is a scrutiny- along with -priority-based process (no written examination or interview is conducted):
Priority 1: aspirants with at least one year's prior service (before this notification) as Pourakarmika, Loader, UGD (Underground Drainage) Helper, or Cleaner/Helper in the district's local bodies, ranked by seniority in such service. Proof required: ESI/PF salary payment records, bank passbook, or attendance/muster records for the service period.
The conducting body has announced that, Priority 2: Consideration for family members of Pourakarmikas who died while performing COVID-19 pandemic-related sanitation duty, or who died in service due to other causes.
Priority 3: aspirants with at least one year's prior local-body work experience in allied roles - Loaders, UGD Helpers, Cleaners, waste segregation unit workers, or public toilet cleaning staff.
Priority 4: 10% of posts reserved for legal heirs (spouse, parents, or children) of persons who died under Manual Scavengers Act-related circumstances.
The official notification states that, After exhausting meeting criteria aspirants under Priorities 1 to 4, any remaining vacant posts may be filled from other applicant categories, following due procedure.
If more than one meeting criteria candidate has equal service tenure as well as equal age, selection among them is done by lottery.
Applications are compiled as well as forwarded by the concerned local body's Chairman/Chief Officer to the District Urban Development Cell as well as Deputy Commissioner, Gadag; applications sent directly (bypassing the local body) will not be considered.
