CIHTS Eligibility varies by post and subject. A candidate should meet the eligibility criteria and provide information current as of the last date of online application submission; candidates who do not possess the requisite essential qualification by the closing date will not be eligible. The post-wise qualification patterns are summarised below by grade. Professor Posts - Eligibility Post Code Subject Eligibility Summary 26011, 26021, 26031, 26051 Sanskrit; Mool Shastra (Tibetan Medium); Mool Shastra (Sanskrit Medium, listed in the notification against Buddhist Philosophy); Bhot Jyotish Standard UGC 2018 Professor pattern (A or B): (A) An eminent scholar with a Ph.D. in the concerned/allied discipline, minimum 10 research publications in peer-reviewed/UGC-listed journals, a total research score of 120 (Appendix II, Table 2, UGC Regulations 2018), and minimum 10 years' teaching/research experience as Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor with evidence of successfully guiding a doctoral candidate; OR (B) An outstanding professional with a Ph.D. in the relevant/allied/applied discipline from any academic institution or industry, with significant contribution to the discipline supported by documentary evidence, and 10 years' experience. 26041 Sowa-Rigpa (Professor, NCISM-2022) Menpa Kachupa or Bachelor's Degree in Sowa-Rigpa (or equivalent recognised by erstwhile CCIM/NCISM); desirable: Menrampa or Postgraduate qualification in Sowa-Rigpa; valid State/Central/National registration under NCISM. Experience: 10 years as regular teacher or 5 years as Associate Professor/Reader for postgraduates; 13 years as regular teacher or 8 years as Associate Professor/Reader for undergraduates. 26061 Tibetan Traditional Painting (A) An eminent scholar with a doctoral degree, minimum 10 years' research/teaching experience, minimum 6 research publications in peer-reviewed/UGC-listed journals, and a total research score of 120; OR (B) A traditional/professional artist with a Master's degree, "A" grade artist status of AIR/Doordarshan, 10 years of outstanding performing achievement, significant contributions and ability to guide research, participation in national/international seminars/conferences or award/fellowship recipient, and ability to teach theory with illustrations. 26071 Rare Buddhist Text Research (RR CIHTS 2026) An eminent scholar with a Ph.D. or equivalent in Bhot Bauddha Darshan or Bauddha Darshan, minimum 10 research publications in peer-reviewed/UGC-listed journals, minimum 10 years' teaching/research experience (including editing, translation and restoration work with special reference to Buddhist Tantra) and a total research score of 120. Erudition in Tibetan/Sanskrit with knowledge of Hindi and English. Desirable: knowledge of ancient scripts (Newari, Bhujimol, Ranjana, etc.)/Apabhransh or Siddha Sahitya. 26081 Dictionary (RR CIHTS 2026) An eminent scholar with a Ph.D. in Bhot Bauddha Darshan/Tibetan Buddhist Philosophy or Sanskrit Bauddha Darshan, minimum 10 research publications in peer-reviewed/UGC-listed journals and a total research score of 120, minimum 10 years' teaching/research experience, and erudition in Tibetan/Sanskrit with knowledge of Hindi and English. 26091 BRA Research Professor, Tenure Post (RR CIHTS 2026) An eminent scholar with a Ph.D. or equivalent in Sanskrit Buddhist Studies, Tibetan Studies, or Sanskrit, minimum 10 research publications in peer-reviewed/UGC-listed journals and a total research score of 120, minimum 10 years' teaching/research experience with evidence of successfully guiding a doctoral candidate, and erudition in Sanskrit with knowledge of Bhoti and English. Tenure of 5 years. Age limit: below 65 years. Desirable: Diploma/Degree in Educational Administration or Leadership. 26162 Sowa-Rigpa (NCISM-2022) Menpa Kachupa or Bachelor's Degree in Sowa-Rigpa (or equivalent recognised by erstwhile CCIM/NCISM); desirable: Menrampa/Postgraduate qualification in Sowa-Rigpa; valid registration under NCISM. Desirable: Master's degree in Psychology, Philosophy, Sociology or allied subjects. 26373 Liberal Discipline and Pedagogy – Tibetan Language and Literature (NCTE-2021) Postgraduate degree in Tibetan Language and Literature with minimum 55% marks; B.Ed. with minimum 55% marks; NET/SLET or Ph.D. in Education or the concerned subject. Desirable: M.Ed. (with Specialisation) or Ph.D. in Education. 26383 Liberal Discipline and Pedagogy – Tibetan Buddhist Philosophy (NCTE-2021) Postgraduate degree in Tibetan Buddhist Philosophy with minimum 55% marks; B.Ed. with minimum 55% marks; NET/SLET or Ph.D. in Education or the concerned subject. Desirable: M.Ed. (with Specialisation) or Ph.D. in Education. 26393 Liberal Discipline and Pedagogy – Hindi (NCTE-2021) Postgraduate degree in Hindi with minimum 55% marks; B.Ed. with minimum 55% marks; NET/SLET or Ph.D. in Education or the concerned subject. Desirable: M.Ed. (with Specialisation) or Ph.D. in Education. 26403 Sowa-Rigpa (NCISM-2022) Menpa Kachupa or Bachelor's Degree in Sowa-Rigpa (or equivalent recognised by erstwhile CCIM/NCISM); desirable: Menrampa/Postgraduate qualification in Sowa-Rigpa; valid registration under NCISM. No teaching experience is required, but a minimum of 2 years' professional experience is mandatory, and age must not exceed 45 years at the time of first appointment.

No general age limit is specified for most CIHTS posts. Specific age conditions apply only to the following posts: Post Code 26091, BRA Research Professor (Tenure Post): Age below 65 years. Post Code 26403, Assistant Professor, Sowa-Rigpa (NCISM-2022): Age must not exceed 45 years at the time of first appointment. Relaxation in the percentage of marks for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/PwBD candidates is provided in accordance with UGC/GOI/CIHTS rules, and the Institute reserves the right to adopt relaxation and/or upgradation of qualification/experience/age at any stage, as recommended by the Screening/Selection Committee.

1. Merely fulfilling the minimum eligibility requirements does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview; CIHTS reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates called for interview.
2. The list of shortlisted candidates will be displayed on the CIHTS website. Registration is provisional, as the eligibility of shortlisted candidates will be verified at the time of Interview/Written Test from original documents.
3. A registered candidate's candidature is liable to be rejected at any stage of the recruitment process, or even after joining, if any information provided is found false or not in conformity with the eligibility criteria.
4. In-service candidates should apply through proper channel and submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer with the application, or at the time of interview/written test if shortlisted.
5. Candidates will have to appear for the interview/written test at their own expense/arrangements.
6. The Institute reserves the right to adopt an appropriate method of screening and shortlisting candidates at any stage, which may include relaxation and/or upgradation of qualification/experience/age, as recommended by the Screening/Selection Committee.
7. The decision of CIHTS in all matters relating to recruitment will be final and binding on candidates.
