  • Route A: A Master's degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in the relevant/allied subject from an Indian university (or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university), ALONG WITH a qualifying NET conducted by UGC/CSIR, or an equivalent state-level test (SLET/SET) accredited by UGC - subject to exemption for aspirants awarded a PhD as per UGC (Minimum Standards for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 ( along with subsequent amendments), provided specified conditions relating to regular-mode PhD, external examiners, open viva-voce, published papers, along with presented conference papers are met in addition to certified by the university.
  • The official notification states that, Route B: A PhD in the relevant subject obtained (at any time) from a foreign university/institution ranked in the world's top 500 as per QS World University Rankings, Times Higher Education (THE), or Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai) rankings.
