Details
SGMH Senior Resident Vacancy 2026
- The post count is provisional as well as may increase or decrease. Four percent of the total posts are reserved for Persons with Disabilities according to the applicable rules.
Educational Qualification
- The department has confirmed that, aspirants must satisfy the following educational as well as registration requirements:
- MBBS degree from a recognized university or institution.
- Postgraduate Degree, Diploma or DNB in the concerned specialty.
- Valid registration with the Delhi Medical Council.
- test-takers who have applied for Delhi Medical Council registration must produce proof of application at the walk-in interview.
- The candidate must not have completed three years of Senior Residency in any recognized institution on a regular or ad-hoc basis.
Eligibility for Non-PG Candidates
- In specialties with a continuous shortage of eligible applicants , such as Radiology, Anaesthesia in addition to Forensic Medicine, applicants with two years of experience in the concerned specialty may be allowed to attend the interview even without a postgraduate qualification.
- Non-PG aspirants can be picked only on an ad-hoc basis along with will be considered when suitable postgraduate test-takers are unavailable.
Eligibility for Candidates Who Completed Three Years of Senior Residency
- In shortage specialties or when fresh aspirants are unavailable, test-takers who have already completed three years of Senior Residency may as well be considered.
- A separate merit list will be prepared for fresh test-takers as well as applicants who have completed three years of Senior Residency.
- Fresh test-takers will be considered first.
- The second merit list will be used only after the fresh-candidate list is exhausted.
- Appointments from the second list will be for one year only as well as will not be renewable.
Age Limit
- According to the latest notice, The age will be calculated as of the interview date, 24 September 2026.
Salary
- According to the latest notice, Picked Senior Residents will receive salary under Pay Matrix Level 11 of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
Appointment Period
- The initial appointment will be for 89 days or until a regular candidate joins, whichever is earlier.
- According to the latest notice, The appointment may be extended, subject to satisfactory work performance, conduct report from the concerned Head of Department in addition to a written request from the doctor. The total Senior Residency period, including previous Senior Residency experience, cannot exceed three years.
Application Fee
- Aspirants are advised that, The government interview notice does not mention an application fee.
Selection Process
- Selection will be made through a walk-in interview only .

- Medical along with appointment formalities for picked test-takers
- The department has confirmed that, If interviews for all registered test-takers cannot be completed on the scheduled date, they may continue on the following working day or on another date declared by the hospital.
Walk-in Interview Details
- aspirants must report before 12:00 noon. Entry will not be permitted after the registration closing time.
How to Apply
- It is informed that, get or prepare the application in the format attached to the government notice.
- Fill in all required personal, educational, registration along with experience details.
- Attach a recent passport-size photograph.
- Attach self-attested copies of the required certificates.
- Prepare the document checklist in the order mentioned in the notification.
- Attend the walk-in interview at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital on 24 September 2026.
- The department has confirmed that, Detailed registration between 9:00 AM in addition to 12:00 noon.

Category Certificate Requirements
- Only OBC certificates issued by the Government of NCT of Delhi will be accepted.
- OBC aspirants must possess a valid Non-Creamy Layer certificate for the current financial year.
- The conducting body has announced that, EWS test-takers must possess a valid EWS certificate for the current financial year.
- Aspirants are advised that, If suitable reserved-category aspirants are unavailable, positions may be filled temporarily from another category on an ad-hoc basis.
Important Instructions
- Interested applicants should know that, aspirants must report at the venue between 9:00 AM as well as 12:00 noon.
- As per the official update, No candidate will be allowed to register after 12:00 noon.
- According to the latest notice, aspirants already in government service must produce an NOC from their employer.
- No TA or DA will be paid for attending the interview.
- Hostel accommodation is subject to availability as well as is not mandatory.
- Chosen applicants must join within seven working days from the issue of the offer letter.
- The number of positions may change without prior notice.
- Picked applicants cannot work in another government or private healthcare facility during their tenure at SGMH.
