Railway Recruitment Cell, Western Railway (RRC/WR) has issued the Recruitment 2026 notification for 64 sportspersons posts. The online application process will be conducted from 01 September 2026, 10:00 Hrs to 30 September 2026, 18:00 Hrs. shortlisted applicants may submit through the government portal, rrc-wr.com.

Details
Sports Achievement Eligibility Norms
- Only sportspersons who acquired requirements norms in championships held between 01-04-2024 as well as the date of notification, along with who are currently active, are shortlisted to register . The concluding day of the championship/event determines validity.
Discipline-Specific Norm Variations
- Athletics: Medal-winning performance in the National Inter State Senior Athletics Championship may be considered for Level 3/2 as well as below; Gold medal in Open National Championship (Senior), Inter State Athletics Championship (Senior), or Asian Championship (Senior) may be considered for Level 5/4 along with below.
- It is informed that, Ball Badminton: Achievements in BBFI-affiliated events after 17-12-2025 till the date of notification will be considered.
- Interested applicants should know that, Body Building: IBBF-affiliated event achievements after 31-12-2021 will not be considered; Association of Indian Universities along with recognized International Federation certificates remain permissible.
- Boxing: "Youth" category achievements on or after 25-09-2016 in International Championships are considered in place of "Junior" category.
- Cricket (Men & Women), Level 3/2: Quarter-finalist in Senior/U-23/U-19 All India Inter State Group Championships (except Plate group), OR participation in Senior/U-23/U-19 All India Inter-Zonal Championship, OR participation in Senior/U-23/U-19 Challenger Trophy.
- Handball (Men & Women): Achievements in events organized by Handball Association of India (or affiliates) on or after 05-09-2023 will not be considered; Association of Indian Universities as well as International Federation certificates remain permissible.
- Hockey (Men), Level 3/2: Participation in International Tournaments (4+ nations, Senior or Junior) or semi-finalist in Senior National Championships may furthermore be considered. Hockey (Women), Level 3/2: At least 2nd position in International Tournaments of 4+ nations may additionally be considered.
- The conducting body has announced that, Volleyball (Women): Achievements in events conducted by Volleyball Federation of India after 02-01-2017 will not be considered; Association of Indian Universities as well as International Federation certificates remain permissible.
- Powerlifting (Men & Women): Achievements in IPF-affiliated events after 03-10-2017 will not be considered; Association of Indian Universities in addition to International Federation certificates remain permissible.
- Weightlifting (Men & Women): New bodyweight categories effective 01-06-2025 will be applied.
- As per the official update, Wrestling: Certificates for events conducted by WFI or affiliates after 10-03-2025 till the date of notification shall be considered.
Application Fee
- Fee must be paid online through the payment gateway integrated with the application; no edits are allowed after payment.
- The official notification states that, Payment methods: Debit Card / Credit Card / Internet Banking / UPI, etc. Transaction charges, if any, are borne by the candidate.
- Applications without fee payment will be summarily rejected.
- It is informed that, Minorities means Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Zoroastrians (Parsis) as well as Jains; a self-declaration (Annexure-A) must be uploaded, followed by an affidavit at document verification.
- EBC means family income below ₹50,000 per annum; an income certificate (Annexure-B) issued by a prescribed authority is required.
Western Railway Sports Quota Selection Procedure
- All shortlisted aspirants are called for a Selection Trial. aspirants declared NOT FIT are not assessed further. Only test-takers securing 25 or more out of 40 marks for game skill, physical fitness, in addition to coach's observations are declared FIT as well as assessed further by the Recruitment Committee.
How to Apply for Western Railway Sports Quota Recruitment 2026

Documents Required
- Scanned copy of minimum academic qualification mark sheet/certificate (per applicable level)
- Certificate proving recognized sports achievement held between 01-04-2024 along with the date of notification
- Certificate for proof of date of birth (SSC certificate or equivalent mark sheet)
- Caste certificate for SC/ST/OBC/EWS test-takers, where applicable
- OBC declaration (Annexure-E), where applicable
- Minority Community Declaration (Annexure-A), where applicable
- Income certificate for EBC fee exemption (Annexure-B), where applicable
- Aadhaar Card or Aadhaar Enrolment slip (original, at the time of trial)
Important Conditions
- Name, father's name, as well as date of birth must exactly match across educational in addition to sports certificates; any name change must be supported by a Gazette Notification or equivalent legal document, predating the online application.
- test-takers must keep their mobile number as well as e-mail ID active throughout the recruitment process; all government communication via SMS/e-mail/website is deemed read.
