  • Dates for CBT along with subsequent stages will be published later on the departmental websites of the respective RRBs.
RRB Section Controller Vacancy Details 2026
  • A total of 119 positions have been notified for the post of Section Controller (Level 6, 7th CPC) across 27 RRB-Zone combinations. The category-wise breakup is as follows:

Nationality

  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India (certificate of requirements required)
Educational Qualification
  • Candidates should note that, Test-takers must hold a Graduate Degree from a recognized University or its equivalent . aspirants awaiting final results of the prescribed qualification are NOT meeting criteria to register .
Age Limit (as on 01.07.2026)
  • The general age band is 20 to 33 years. The date of birth limits above already include community age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC-NCL.

Age Relaxation
  • No age relaxation is allowed to SC/ST/OBC-NCL test-takers applying against unreserved openings . If meeting criteria for relaxation on multiple grounds, the highest applicable relaxation will be given.
Medical Standard
  • The prescribed medical standard is A-2 , requiring distant vision 6/9, 6/9 (without glasses) as well as near vision Sn 0.6, 0.6 (without glasses), along with normal colour vision, binocular vision, night vision, in addition to myopic vision. test-takers who have undergone Lasik or any other corrective eye surgery are not meeting criteria for this post.
RRB Section Controller Salary 2026
  • The post of Section Controller carries Level 6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (7th CPC) with an initial basic pay of Rs. 35,400 per month. Detailed break-up of allowances (DA, HRA, TA etc.) is not specified in the notification.

RRB Section Controller Selection Process 2026
  • The official notification states that, Selection for the post of Section Controller involves the following stages:
  • Computer Based Test (CBT): Single stage, 120 minutes, 100 questions, with negative marking of 1/3 mark per wrong answer
  • Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): Shortlisting to the extent of 8 times the openings ; applicants must secure a minimum T-Score of 42 marks in each test battery to qualify; no negative marking
  • Document Verification (DV): Shortlisting at 1:1 ratio of openings , based on 70% weightage to CBT in addition to 30% weightage to CBAT
  • Medical Examination: As per Medical Standard A-2
Minimum Qualifying Marks (CBT)
  • UR: 40%
  • EWS: 40%
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 30%
  • SC: 30%
  • ST: 25%
  • Candidates should note that, These percentages furthermore submit to Ex-Servicemen aspirants as per their community. Qualifying marks may be relaxed by 2 marks for PwBD applicants in case of shortage of PwBD applicants against reserved posts .

How to Apply for RRB Section Controller 2026
