RITES Engineer Vacancy 2026 Details
- RITES is recruiting for one post under VC No. CL/08/26, with a total of 8 positions as stated in the category-wise break-up below.
- No positions have been notified under the EWS along with ST categories for this post in line with the authorized circular.
Educational Qualification
- applicants applying for the post of Engineer (VC No. CL/08/26) must possess any one of the following:
- Full-time Diploma in Mechanical/Metallurgical branch of Engineering with UT Level-2 Certificate (ASNT/ISNT), or
- As per the official update, Full-time Degree in Mechanical/Metallurgical branch of Engineering with UT Level-2 Certificate (ASNT/ISNT)
- The Diploma/Degree must be from an institution recognised by BTE/AICTE, or from a university incorporated by an Act of Central or State legislature in India, or from an institution established/deemed under the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. Sections A & B examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India), treated as equivalent to a Degree in addition to recognised by AICTE, are as well accepted.
- applicants from UR/EWS category ( along with SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PWD applicants applying against unreserved posts) must have a first-class degree or a minimum of 60% marks. Reserved category aspirants applying against reserved posts must have at least 50% marks. Where the certificate or marksheet does not show a class/division or percentage, applicants must submit the CGPA/DGPA conversion formula issued by their university; where no such formula exists, an authorised undertaking is required, with a minimum of 6 on a 10-point scale considered equivalent to 60%.
Experience Requirement
- For Diploma holders: Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience
- For Degree holders: Minimum 2 years of post-qualification experience
- Preference will be given to applicants possessing NDT experience. The period of training (except on-the-job training), internship, teaching, academic work, fellowship, or PhD research experience will not be counted towards the required experience.
Age Limit
- Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST category: 5 years
- OBC-NCL category: 3 years
- It is informed that, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years, in addition to any age relaxation applicable for SC/ST/OBC-NCL test-takers, subject to the post being identified as suitable for PWD
- PwBD aspirants with not less than 40% of the relevant disability are meeting criteria for the 10-year age relaxation, subject to meeting the identified physical requirements in addition to functional classifications for the post (locomotor disability category, as specified in the authorized circular).

- The selection procedure consists of the following stages:
- Candidates should note that, Document Scrutiny/Verification: All test-takers who successfully submit the online application are provisionally allowed to appear for document scrutiny to verify their qualification for the applied post.
- Interview: Shortlisted/ meeting criteria aspirants are called for an interview, which carries a weightage of 100% - split as Technical & Professional proficiency (65%) in addition to Personality, Communication & Competency (35%).
- A minimum of 60% marks in the interview is required for UR/EWS aspirants (50% for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PWD applicants against reserved posts) to be considered for placement on the panel; there is no separate minimum qualifying mark in the aggregate.
