- Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Metropolitan Surveillance Unit (MSU) has officially made available the recruitment notification dated 28 August 2026 for engagement of test-takers for Senior Public Health Specialist, Microbiologist, Veterinary Officer, Technical Assistant, Entomologist, Technical Officer (IT) in addition to Data Analyst posts. PMC Vacancy 2026: Post-wise Details
- The official notification states that, A total of 8 posts are available - 1 for Senior Public Health Specialist, 1 for Microbiologist, 1 for Veterinary Officer, 1 for Technical Assistant, 1 for Entomologist, 2 for Technical Officer (IT), along with 1 for Data Analyst.
- All posts are contractual, for a duration of 11 months as well as 29 days. The number of posts is subject to change at the discretion of the Pune Mahanagarpalika administration.
PMC Recruitment 2026 Important Dates
- Forms along with self-attested documents must be submitted during office hours (excluding government holidays) at the Health Department office in Shivaji Nagar, Pune.
1. Senior Public Health Specialist - Eligibility
- applicants must meet either of the following three qualification routes:
- MBBS (recognized by MCI) with MD in PSM/Community Medicine, MD (CHA), or MD (Tropical Medicine), or DNB in Social along with Preventive Medicine/Community Medicine.
- According to the latest notice, MBBS (recognized by MCI) with an EIS (Epidemic Intelligence Service) Training Course Certificate.
- BDS/BAMS/BHMS/BUMS/BPT/B.Sc. in Life Sciences (Nursing, Biology, Microbiology, Developmental Biology along with Physiology) with an MPH (Epidemiology) or DPH (Epidemiology); OR a Master in Applied Epidemiology (MAE) plus two years of Public Health experience; OR a PhD in Clinical Sciences, Medical Science, Preventive Medicine, Human Physiology, Pathophysiology or Epidemiology.
- Experience required: At least 10 years of field experience, after obtaining the essential qualification, in implementing public health programmes or interventions with a focus on communicable diseases. The candidate must have passed a 100-mark Marathi language paper in SSC in addition to HSC, as well as must have working command over the Marathi language.
2. Microbiologist - Eligibility
- test-takers must meet either of the following:
- It is informed that, MBBS with MD/DNB in Medical Microbiology or Lab Medicine, recognized by MCI/DNB.

3. Veterinary Officer - Eligibility
- A postgraduate veterinary degree in any one of: Veterinary Public Health, Veterinary Epidemiology, Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Microbiology, Veterinary Preventive Medicine, or Veterinary Pathology, along with registration in the Veterinary Council of India or a State Veterinary Council.
- Experience required: At least 1 year of post-qualification experience in Veterinary Public Health, Veterinary Epidemiology, or Animal Health, along with relevant experience in public health, preferably in disease surveillance along with outbreak investigations.
4. Technical Assistant - Eligibility
- B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) from a recognized university, or B.Sc. aspirants must hold registration/renewal with the Maharashtra Paramedical Council. in Chemistry/Botany/Zoology/Biotechnology with a DMLT or BMLT.
- Experience required (essential): At least 2 years of experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory, as well as proficiency in MS Word, Excel, as well as PowerPoint. Desirable: work experience in a bacteriology laboratory.
5. Entomologist - Eligibility
- M.Sc. in Entomology or Zoology, preferably with a Doctorate (PhD) in Medical Entomology.

- Experience required: At least 2 years of experience (after a postgraduate degree) in project planning as well as implementation of Information Technology, or at least 3 years of experience (after a graduate degree) in the same area.
7. Data Analyst - Eligibility
- Aspirants are advised that, A postgraduate degree in Computer Application or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university, such as M.Sc. in Statistics.
- Experience required: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) along with preferably in statistical software such as SPSS or STATA, along with 5 years of post-postgraduate experience in data analysis or Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) roles.
