GAIL Executive Trainee (GATE-2027) Recruitment Overview
- Aspirants are advised that, Note: This is GAIL's first/pre-advertisement for the GATE-2027 recruitment cycle. It notifies requirements criteria, age limit as well as the application timeline; the detailed advertisement with post-wise post numbers is expected in February 2027.

GAIL Executive Trainee Posts & Disciplines
- A candidate can register for one post/discipline only ; test-takers applying for more than one post/discipline will not be considered.
Educational Qualification
- Note: Engineering Degree can be B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. Only full-time regular courses from UGC-recognized/AICTE-approved institutions are considered. Engg. dual degree in the relevant discipline are furthermore chosen . + M.E./M.Tech. test-takers with a 5-year integrated B.E./B.Tech. + MBA or B.E./B.Tech. are as well considered, provided the final percentage meets the notified criteria. aspirants with a 5-year integrated B.E./B.Tech. + M.Sc. test-takers with an engineering degree in a branch/discipline other than those listed above are not shortlisted .
Minimum Qualifying Percentage & Passing-Year Conditions
- General, EWS as well as OBC (NCL) test-takers: minimum 65% marks in the Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- SC/ST/PwBD test-takers: minimum 60% marks (a 5% relaxation), applicable only against posts reserved for SC/ST/PwBD. SC/ST/PwBD test-takers applying against unreserved posts are assessed under general merit standards with no relaxation in minimum qualifying percentage.
- No rounding off of marks is allowed (e.g., 64.99% is not treated as 65% for UR category).
- meeting criteria applicants : those who completed their Bachelor's degree in Engineering in 2026, OR those currently in the final year (2026–27) of their Engineering degree course.
- applicants who completed their Engineering degree in 2025 or earlier are not eligible to submit .
- Final-year applicants must have secured the minimum prescribed percentage (65%/60% as applicable) in aggregate up to the last semester/year examination at the time of applying, along with must submit the final degree certificate (or at least a provisional certificate) along with all semester/year mark sheets confirming the minimum prescribed percentage by 31 August 2027 .
Age Relaxation
- Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC (NCL) is applicable only against posts reserved for the respective category; if applying against an unreserved post, such applicants are assessed under general merit with no age relaxation.
- PwBD age relaxation applies irrespective of whether the post is reserved, provided the post is identified suitable for PwBDs.
- Ex-servicemen with at least six months' continuous service in the Armed Forces may deduct their actual service period from their age; if the resultant age does not exceed the prescribed maximum by more than 3 years, they are deemed to satisfy the age condition.
- Maximum upper age of the applicant, after all possible relaxations, shall not exceed 56 years.

GAIL Executive Trainee GATE-2027 Selection Process
- Interested applicants should know that, GAIL will use GATE-2027 marks (not GATE 2026 or earlier) to shortlist aspirants for Executive Trainee recruitment.

- EWS aspirants : latest Income & Asset Certificate (format per DoPT OM No. 36039/1/2019-Estt.(Res) dated 31.01.2019), valid for financial year 2026-27, based on income/asset verification for FY 2025-26, submitted at the time of the selection procedure
- PwBD disability certificate as stated in the format prescribed by the Ministry of Social Justice as well as Empowerment vide notification No. G.S.R. 591(E) dated 15.06.2017, for applicants with specified disability of 40% or more
- CGPA/OGPA/CPI-to-percentage equivalence certificate from the University/Institute, where applicable
- Pre-Employment Medical Examination report in the prescribed format, from a Central/State Government Hospital (minimum District Hospital status) or a GAIL-nominated empanelled hospital
