ECoR Act Apprentice Vacancy 2026 – Unit-Wise Details
- The 1,599 posts are distributed across five units/establishments under ECoR. Category-wise breakup (UR/SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD/ESM) for each trade is provided in the departmental circular's Annexure A; the totals below are as notified per unit.
- The conducting body has announced that, Category-wise breakup for the grand total, as notified:
- PwBD reservation is 4% along with Ex-Servicemen (ESM) reservation is 3%, both horizontal in addition to included within the overall notified slots (not additional). The number of training slots is provisional along with may increase or decrease depending on the actual needs of the Administration at the time of finalizing selection.
- Designated Trades (25 total): Fitter, Welder, Turner, Machinist, Electrician, Carpenter, Painter (General), Mechanic (Diesel)(TMO), Secretarial Assistant (Stenography), Black Smith, Driller, Bridge Erector, Sheet Metal Worker, Electronics Mechanic / Electronics Mechanic (TMO), Wireman/Electrician, Mechanic Refrigeration & AC, Plumber, Draftsman (Civil), Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Computer Operator & Programming Assistant, Laboratory Technician (Pathology), Sarang, Grinder, Mason, Draftsman (Mechanic).
ECoR Act Apprentice Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification: Matriculation (10th Class) under the 10+2 system with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognized Board, held as on 21.08.2026 (the notification date).
- Technical Qualification: An ITI certificate in the relevant trade, affiliated to NCVT/SCVT, in line with the Apprentices Act, 1961.
- Applicants whose SSC or ITI results are awaited as on the notification date are not chosen
- Applicants who have failed in ITI must not send in; if inadvertently engaged, the apprenticeship will be terminated immediately
- Engineering graduates along with diploma holders are not meeting criteria under this notification (they fall under a separate apprenticeship scheme)
- For Laboratory Technician (Pathology): candidate must be 12th pass (10+2 system) with Physics, Chemistry along with Biology, with a minimum of 50% marks in both 10th as well as 12th
- For Secretarial Assistant (Stenography): candidate must hold a National Trade Certificate (NTC) approved by NCVT/SCVT
- As per the official update, For Computer Operator & Programming Assistant: candidate must have board-based basic training in the IT sector under the Centre of Excellence scheme (hardware/networking repair along with maintenance), with an NTC approved by NCVT/SCVT
- Applicants possessing ITI qualifications in more than one trade may submit separately for each relevant trade. Applicants can choose only one Division/Workshop, along with this choice is final along with binding.

ECoR Act Apprentice Age Limit
- Aspirants are advised that, Age is reckoned as on the closing date, 15.09.2026.
- General age limit: 15 to 24 years
- SC/ST applicants : upper age limit relaxed by 5 years
- The official notification states that, OBC test-takers: upper age limit relaxed by 3 years
- The conducting body has announced that, PwBD aspirants : upper age limit relaxed by 10 years
- Ex-Servicemen: 10 additional years to the extent of Defence service rendered, plus 3 years, provided a minimum of 6 months of service at a stretch (applicable to the Ex-Serviceman applicant personally, not to their children)
- Children of deceased/disabled Ex-Servicemen, children of Ex-Servicemen, children of serving Jawans, along with children of serving Officers are as well considered for engagement under specified categories, with the same age relaxation as per their community

ECoR Act Apprentice Application Fee
- Fee must be paid online only, through the payment gateway integrated with the application process (Debit Card/Credit Card/UPI/Internet Banking). Transaction charges, if any, are borne by the applicant.
ECoR Act Apprentice Stipend
- Shortlisted test-takers will be paid a monthly stipend at the prescribed rate during the training period, as per extant rules along with directives issued by the Railway Board from time to time. The notification does not specify an exact stipend amount. No hostel accommodation is provided during training - apprentices must make their own arrangements.
ECoR Act Apprentice Selection Process
- Candidates should note that, Selection is based solely on a merit list prepared from the percentage of marks obtained in Matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate) - there is no written examination or interview
- The percentage is calculated using marks from all subjects (not the "best of five" approach); applicants with a CGPA must convert it to the equivalent percentage
- In case of tied marks, preference goes to the older candidate; if dates of birth are furthermore identical, whoever passed Matriculation earlier is prioritized
- Candidates should note that, A trade-wise along with community-wise merit list is prepared; test-takers are called for Document Verification (DV) at ECoR Headquarters, Bhubaneswar, based on merit in their preferred trade
- aspirants are shortlisted strictly by academic merit in addition to the order of preference of Unit–Department–Trade exercised in their application; a candidate is considered for only one combination, along with once chosen against a higher preference, all lower preferences are automatically cancelled
- Final selection is subject to verification of original documents in addition to submission of a Medical Fitness Certificate
- Standby-list applicants are issued call letters only upon receipt of details of absentee/unfit/rejected test-takers, strictly in order of merit
- No TA/DA is paid to applicants called for Document Verification
- test-takers who completed apprenticeship training (CCAA) as well as hold a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) get preference for up to 20% of Level-1 direct-recruitment posts in future, subject to RRB/RRC qualification criteria - this is a separate benefit, not part of this apprentice selection itself

- Income along with Asset Certificate for EWS test-takers (family gross annual income below ₹8 lakh, along with specified asset limits not exceeded)
- The conducting body has announced that, Disability Certificate for PwBD test-takers
- Discharge Certificate/Serving Certificate for Ex-Servicemen quota aspirants
- The official notification states that, Scanned photograph (3.5cm × 3.5cm, JPG/JPEG, 100 DPI, 20–70 KB) as well as signature (3.5cm × 3.5cm, JPG/JPEG, 100 DPI, 20–30 KB)

ECoR Act Apprentice Important Instructions
- Applicants must not change their registered mobile number or email ID during the entire recruitment process
- Name, father's name, as well as date of birth must exactly match the Matriculation certificate; any discrepancy found during Document Verification may lead to cancellation of candidature
