BPSSC Company Commander Vacancy 2026 – Category-wise Details
  • A total of 65 posts have been notified for the post of Gulma Samadesta (Company Commander), to be filled from meeting criteria Home Guards. BPSSC Company Commander Eligibility Criteria
  • This recruitment is not open to the general public. It is restricted to aspirants already serving within the Bihar Home Guard organization who meet the following conditions.

BPSSC Company Commander Qualification
  • aspirants must have passed a graduate examination from a recognised university, or an equivalent examination recognised by the State Government, on or before 01-08-2026.
Physical Standards
  • Chest measurement is not applicable for women test-takers. A minimum expansion of 5 cm is required for men after fully expanding the chest. For third gender (Kinnar/Kothi/Hijra/Transgender) applicants , the physical standards as well as physical efficiency test criteria will be the same as for Backward Class (BC) applicants . No marks are awarded for height, chest, or weight - aspirants simply must meet the prescribed minimums to qualify; those who don't will be declared unsuccessful.

  • The official notification states that, The post of Gulma Samadesta (Company Commander) carries Pay Level-6 of the applicable pay matrix.
BPSSC Company Commander Application Fee
  • Payment must be made online only, through Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card, or UPI. Bank charges applicable on Net Banking/Credit/Debit Card transactions must be borne by the candidate. The fee is non-refundable once payment is successful, except where a payment is deducted although registration fails due to technical issues - such amounts are refunded by the payment gateway within 7 working days.
BPSSC Company Commander Selection Process
  • The department has confirmed that, Selection to the post of Company Commander will be made through a written competitive examination in two phases, followed by a Physical Efficiency Test, as detailed below.
Phase 1: Preliminary Examination
  • The Preliminary exam covers General Knowledge in addition to Current Affairs. applicants scoring less than 30% will be declared unsuccessful for the Main exam. Successful test-takers will be shortlisted for the Main exam at 20 times the number of openings , category-wise, in merit order (this ratio may be reduced if sufficient shortlisted aspirants are not available).
Phase 2: Main Examination
  • A negative marking of 0.2 marks per wrong answer applies in both the Preliminary as well as Main examinations. The answer sheet will be prepared in two copies, one of which will be retained by the Commission.
  • Minimum qualifying marks for the final merit list (based on Main exam Paper 2): SC, ST, as well as Women test-takers – 32%; EBC aspirants – 34%; BC test-takers – 36.5%; General category test-takers – 40%.
Phase 3: Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

How to Apply for BPSSC Company Commander Recruitment 2026
  • Applications must be submitted online only, in two parts, through the government BPSSC website.
  • Access bpssc.bihar.gov.in along with go to the "Home Guard" tab, then click the link for Advertisement No. 11/2026.
  • Detailed Part 1 (Registration) with name, nationality, mobile number, email ID, Bihar domicile status, reservation category, gender, along with date of birth, then make the online fee payment.
  • After successful registration in addition to payment, a registration number along with password will be sent via SMS along with email - use these to log in along with full Part 2 of the form with father's/husband's name, mother's name, address, as well as educational qualification details.

  • Note: The notification specifically states that for a married reserved-category woman candidate, the caste certificate as well as permanent residence certificate must be submitted based on her father's category, not her husband's - since caste is determined by birth, not marriage.   • Not submitting the certificate proving at least 5 years of work/experience as a Home Guard
  • Interested applicants should know that, Not meeting requirements conditions, such as being outside the prescribed age limit, not holding the required qualification by the cut-off date, or not being an Indian citizen
  • Not submitting a certificate issued by the competent authority, or submitting a certificate in an incorrect format
  • Candidates should note that, Involvement in any criminal case or activity
  • Cheating or attempting to cheat during the written examination or physical efficiency test, including impersonation or misconduct
  • Offering or attempting to offer inducement or threats to examination staff
