  • APPSC Group 2 Syllabus includes Prelims along with Mains stages covering subjects like Indian History, Geography, Indian Society, Current Affairs, Mental Ability, Social & Cultural History of Andhra Pradesh, Indian Constitution, Indian & AP Economy, in addition to Science & Technology.
  • The APPSC Group 2 Services Exam is a competitive recruitment process conducted by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) for various executive along with non-executive posts in Andhra Pradesh state government departments. General Studies & Mental Ability
  • Indian History (30 marks): Ancient (Indus Valley, Vedic Age, Mauryan & Gupta Empires, Buddhism/Jainism), Medieval (Cholas, Delhi Sultanate, Mughals, Bhakti/Sufi, Marathas, Europeans), Modern (1857 Revolt, British rule, Social/Religious reforms, National Movement, Post-Independence).
  • Geography (30 marks): Physical (Earth, landforms, climate, oceans, hazards), Economic (resources, agriculture, industries, transport, tourism), Human (demographics, urbanization, migration, tribal/linguistic groups) – focus on India & Andhra Pradesh.
  • Interested applicants should know that, Indian Society (30 marks) : Structure (family, caste, tribe, religion, women), Issues (casteism, communalism, crime against women, child labour), Welfare (provisions for SC/ST/BC/Minorities/Women/Disabled/Children).
  • Current Affairs (30 marks) : National, International, Andhra Pradesh-specific events/issues.
  • Mental Ability: Logical reasoning (statements, assumptions, arguments, conclusions), Series/coding-decoding/relations/shapes, Basic numeracy (averages, ratios, percentages, interest, time/work/distance), Data analysis (tables, graphs, charts).
Paper 1 – Social History of Andhra Pradesh & Indian Constitution
  • Social & Cultural History of Andhra Pradesh (75 marks): Pre-historic & ancient dynasties (Satavahanas, Ikshvakus, Vishnukundins, Chalukyas, Telugu Cholas – society, religion, art, literature), Medieval kingdoms (11th–16th centuries – socio-economic, Telugu growth), Europeans/1857 Revolt/British rule, Socio-cultural awakening, Nationalist movements (1885–1947), Andhra Movement (Mahasabhas, leaders, press, library, tribal culture), Formation of Andhra State (1953) & Andhra Pradesh (Visalandhra, SRC, Gentlemen’s Agreement, events 1956–2014).
  • Indian Constitution (75 marks): Salient features, Preamble, Fundamental Rights/Duties/DPSP, Federal/Unitary aspects, Legislature/Executive/Judiciary, Centre-State relations, Constitutional bodies (UPSC, CAG, Finance Commission), Commissions (Rajmannar, Sarkaria, Punchhi), Electoral reforms, Anti-defection, Decentralization (Panchayati Raj, 73rd/74th Amendments).
Paper 2 – Indian & AP Economy & Science & Technology
  • Indian & AP Economy (75 marks): National income/planning/reforms (1991, NITI Aayog), Money/banking (RBI, monetary policy, GST, fiscal policy, budget, BOP, FDI), Sectors (agriculture – MSP/marketing, industry – policies/MSMEs, services – IT), AP-specific (GSDP, revenue/expenditure, agriculture/horticulture/fisheries/industries/IT policy).
  • Science & Technology (75 marks): S&T policy, space (ISRO), defence (DRDO), ICT/cyber security, nuclear/renewable energy, Environment (ecology, biodiversity, pollution control, climate change, sustainable development), Health & public initiatives.
APPSC Group 2 Preparation Tips
  • Prioritize Andhra Pradesh-specific topics (history, economy, geography, current affairs).
  • Read standard books + departmental Bare Acts/Constitution for accuracy.
