Qualification
Minimum Age: 18 years (as on 01-01-2026). Maximum Age: 27 years for Stenographer Grade-II & Tax Assistant, 25 years for Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS). Age Relaxation: Up to 5 years (10 years for SC/ST candidates) as per Government rules. Educational Qualifications: Stenographer Grade-II: 12th Class pass or equivalent. Tax Assistant: A Degree of a recognized University or equivalent qualification. Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS): Matriculation or equivalent pass. Candidates must be meritorious sportspersons.

About this recruitment
The Income Tax Department, Mumbai, has announced a special recruitment drive for meritorious sportspersons under the Sports Quota for Group C & D posts. This recruitment aims to fill 97 vacancies for the posts of Stenographer Grade-II, Tax Assistant, and Multi-Tasking Staff. Selected candidates will be posted in Mumbai and will receive salary as per 7th Pay Commission norms. The online application process starts on January 7, 2026, and the last date to apply is January 31, 2026.
Eligibility
Stenographer Grade-II: 12th class pass or equivalent from a recognized Board or University + Related sports qualification. Tax Assistant: A Degree from a recognized University or equivalent qualification + Related sports qualification. Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS): 10th passed + Related sports qualification. Candidates must be meritorious sportspersons who have represented the Country / State / All India Inter University tournaments (organized under the aegis of the Association of Indian Universities) for appointment under sports quota. Sports achievements/participation of the candidates shall be considered only up to 07.01.2026.
