SHS Bihar Specialist Doctor Recruitment 2026 - Apply Online for 450 Paediatrician, Gynaecologist and More Posts

The State Health Society, Bihar (SHSB), functioning under the National Health Mission (NHM), has released Advertisement No. 03/2026 inviting online applications for a Walk-In Recruitment Drive for Specialist Doctors. A total of 450 contractual vacancies are available across six specialist categories, and eligible candidates can apply online from 7 August 2026 to 21 August 2026.

Eligibility for SHSB Specialist Doctor Recruitment 2026 depends on the specific post applied for. In general, candidates need an MBBS degree along with a postgraduate qualification (MD/MS/DNB) or a Diploma in the relevant specialty, along with valid medical council registration. SHSB Specialist Doctor Qualification (Post-wise) Post Minimum Qualification Obstetrician and Gynaecologist MD/MS/DNB in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, or DGO Paediatrician MD/DNB in Paediatrics, or Diploma in Child Health (DCH) Anaesthetist MD/DNB in Anaesthesia, or Diploma in Anaesthesia (DA) MD Medicine / Physician MD/DNB in General Medicine General Surgeon MS/DNB in General Surgery Orthopaedic Surgeon MBBS with MS-Ortho/DNB in Orthopaedic, MD in Orthopaedic, or D.Ortho For all posts, the qualifying degree/diploma must be from a recognized Institute/University, and candidates must be registered (or eligible for registration) with the Bihar Council of Medical Registration (BCMR), Patna , the Medical Council of India (MCI) , or the National Medical Commission (NMC) before joining. Candidates without existing BCMR registration may apply but must submit an affidavit undertaking to obtain registration before joining, failing which their candidature may be cancelled. As per the official notification, the minimum age for SHSB Specialist Doctor Recruitment 2026 is 21 years , and the maximum age limit is calculated as on 1 August 2026 , varying by reservation category as shown below. Category Maximum Age Limit Unreserved (UR) / EWS (Male) 37 years Backward Class / Extremely Backward Class (Male & Female) 40 years Unreserved (UR) / EWS (Female) 40 years Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe (Male & Female) 42 years Age relaxation: Persons with disabilities (PwD/Divyang): 10 years relaxation, as per Bihar General Administration Department Resolution No. 962 dated 22.01.2021. Departmental (in-service) candidates of SHSB: 5 years relaxation, subject to fulfilling the minimum eligibility, as per SHSB's Human Resource Rules, 2021. Only one of the above two relaxations is admissible to any single candidate; both cannot be combined. Selected candidates will receive a fixed monthly honorarium under NHM, which differs by post, qualification (PG degree vs Diploma), and place of posting. 1. If a candidate's MBBS result was awarded in grade/CGPA, the university/institute-converted percentage will be used; otherwise the candidate is deemed to have secured 50% (the minimum qualifying percentage) as a flat rate.
2. For candidates from foreign medical institutes, marks are computed from the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) score multiplied by 0.6, and registration with MCI/NMC is mandatory.
3. Tie-breaking: If two or more candidates score equal marks, the older candidate (by date of birth) is ranked higher. If age is also equal, higher educational qualification is considered. If a tie still persists, seniority is decided alphabetically based on the candidate's name as recorded in the Class 10 certificate.
4. Shortlisted candidates will be called for Document Verification/Counselling , tentatively scheduled for September 2026 . The final merit list, category-wise and post-wise, will be prepared after successful document verification, in accordance with prevailing Bihar reservation rules.
5. No TA/DA is admissible for document verification or counselling.
