About this recruitment

The Office of the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Shivamogga, Karnataka has released a notification inviting online applications for direct recruitment to 56 vacant posts of Peon (ಜವಾನ) in the Shivamogga District Court unit. The recruitment follows directions from the Karnataka High Court and applicable State Government orders governing reservation and recruitment rules.

Minimum age: 18 years Maximum age – General category: 35 + 5* years Maximum age – Category 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B: 38 + 5* years Maximum age – SC, ST, Category-1: 40 + 5* years *A one-time additional relaxation of 5 years in the maximum age limit is granted to candidates of all categories participating in the selection process, as per Government Order dated 29.01.2026 Further age relaxations apply for government employees/ex-employees of State Government, local authorities, or government corporations (up to years of service or 10 years, whichever is less), ex-servicemen (service years + 3 years), NCC whole-time instructors, Gram Sevaks, persons with disabilities (10 years), Census Department employees (service years or 5 years, whichever is less), widows (10 years), and released bonded labourers (10 years), as per the Karnataka Civil Services (General Recruitment) Rules, 1977

Pay and allowances

Selection process

  1. Selection will be based on the Karnataka Civil Services (General Recruitment) Rules, 1977 and the Karnataka Subordinate Courts (Clerical and Other Posts) (Recruitment) Rules, 1982 (as amended in 2007 and 2021).
  2. Based on the overall percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination (SSLC), candidates will be shortlisted at a ratio of 1:10 (10 candidates per vacancy) with the highest marks, and called for interview.
  3. The interview will assess the candidate's ability to read and write Kannada, and general knowledge, and carries 10 marks.
  4. Final selection will be based on marks scored in the interview.
  5. Candidates selected will undergo a probation period of 2 years as per the Karnataka Civil Services (Probation) Rules, 1977, extendable if necessary.
  6. Pension benefits will apply as per applicable Government Orders (No. FD(SPL)/04 P/E/T/2025 dated 31.03.2006 and No. AI 34 PES 2018 dated 23.06.2018, and related orders).
  7. The recruitment order issued under this notification will be subject to the final orders of the Karnataka High Court in W.P. No. 200448/2025, 17968/2025, and 3145/2023.
