PSSSB Group D Recruitment 2026 - Apply Online for 1401 Sevadar, Chowkidar Posts

The Subordinate Services Selection Board, Punjab (SSSB Punjab, commonly known as PSSSB) has re-opened the online application window for its Group-D (Common Cadre) recruitment, Advertisement No. 04 of 2026. Per the Board's amendment notice dated 24 August 2026, a total of 1401 Group-D vacancies - such as Sewadar, Chowkidar, Safai Sewak, Cattle Attendant, Sweeper, Water Carrier and similar posts - have been received from various Punjab Government departments and are now open for application.

Matriculation with Punjabi as a subject (exemptions apply - see Eligibility)

18–37 years (General), as on 01.01.2026, with category-wise relaxations Age is reckoned as on 01 January 2026: Minimum age (all categories): 18 years Maximum age (General category): 37 years Maximum age for Punjab-resident SC and BC candidates: 42 years Maximum age for State/Central Government employees (with relaxation): 45 years - an NOC from their department is required at counseling Punjab-resident Ex-Servicemen: upper age limit as per the Punjab Recruitment of Ex-Servicemen Rules, 1982, as amended Punjab-resident Divyang (disabled) candidates: 47 years (10-year relaxation) Widows, divorcees, and certain other categories of married women: relaxed up to 40 years, per Government of Punjab letter No. 1/50/83-5PP(1368)/3454 dated 23.04.1984

1. Selection is through an Objective-type (Multiple Choice Questions) written examination, in two parts:
2. Part A: Matriculation-standard Punjabi language paper - qualifying in nature only; candidates must score a minimum of 50% to qualify
3. Part B: Determines the merit list; each question carries 1 mark, with negative marking of 1/4 mark for each wrong answer
4. The Common Merit List is prepared based solely on Part-B marks
5. In case of a tie in Part-B marks, the candidate with the earlier date of birth (older in age) ranks higher; if age is also equal, the candidate with a higher percentage in the required educational qualification ranks higher
6. Candidates are shortlisted from the merit list for document verification/counseling; the number called is decided by the Board
7. Successful candidates at counseling are recommended to the respective department as per the Common Merit List and category-wise post availability
8. Admit cards are issued only online via the Board's website; the exam pattern/syllabus is also uploaded there
9. Qualifying in the exam, appearing for counseling, or featuring in the merit list does not by itself guarantee recommendation for a post - eligibility must be proven with documents
