Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions regarding GATE 2026 score, educational qualification, and age as on the respective cut-off dates. Only candidates with a valid GATE 2026 score in the EE (Electrical Engineering) paper and Odia language proficiency are eligible to apply through the OPTCL website. Criteria Details Nationality / Citizenship Indian National only GATE 2026 Score (Mandatory) Must have appeared and qualified in GATE 2026 (Paper Code: EE – Electrical Engineering) conducted by IIT Guwahati. Only GATE 2026 Score (Normalized Marks out of 100) is valid; GATE 2025 or prior scores are not accepted. Educational Qualification (as on 25-06-2026) Degree in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics Engineering with minimum 60% marks in aggregate from a recognized University/Institution; OR Passing of Section A & B of IE (India) in relevant discipline with minimum 50% marks in aggregate. For SC/ST/PwBD candidates, minimum 50% marks required. CGPA/OGPA Conversion Where CGPA/OGPA/Letter Grade is awarded, equivalent percentage must be indicated as per norms adopted by the University/Institution. Odia Language Proficiency (Mandatory) Candidate must be able to read, write, and speak Odia fluently and must have passed Middle School Exam with Odia as language subject; OR Matriculation/equivalent with Odia as medium; OR Odia as language subject in Class VII final exam from a recognized school; OR passed a test in Odia in Middle English School Standard conducted by School and Mass Education Department/BSE Odisha. Marital Status A candidate having more than one spouse living is not eligible unless exempted by the State Government. Further Studies Graduates who intend to pursue further studies on the basis of GATE 2026 score or require extension of joining time need NOT apply. Departmental Candidates OPTCL regular employees fulfilling eligibility may apply through proper channel to GM (HRD). They are exempt from application fee and there is no age bar. Children of employees and outsourced agency candidates do not qualify as departmental candidates.
