Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions as on the last date of application. Only Indian citizens are eligible. Candidates must mandatorily possess the Kannada language proficiency as specified. Eligibility details are as follows: | Criteria Details Educational Qualification PUC (Pre-University Certificate) or equivalent qualification (as on last date of application). Candidates appearing in PUC exam and awaiting results are NOT eligible. All subjects and marks must have been secured by the last date. PUC Equivalents Accepted (i) Class 12 exam by CBSE or ICSE boards; (ii) Class 12 exam by other state government exam boards; (iii) Higher Secondary education course (HSC) by NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling); (iv) Two-year BTEC course by NIOS - candidates who passed one language paper and one academic subject in distance/correspondence mode, or appeared in pre-university exam - only in one language and one subject with pass marks, are treated as equivalent to PUC Vocational courses (GTC) As per Govt. Order No. ED 19 TVE 2019 dated 06.08.2021 - Karnataka State Vocational Training courses (GTC) are treated as equivalent to PUC only for: (i) Compassionate appointment and those already in service under the order; (ii) GTC/PUC marks considered as minimum academic qualification for competitive exams only - GTC is the minimum academic qualification 3-Year Diploma As per Govt. Order No. ED 33 TVE 2021 dated 30.09.2021 - 3-year diploma holders treated as PUC equivalent only for: (i) Direct/compassionate appointment and higher education in technical education department; (ii) Diploma passed before 2015 from a govt. technical institution must pass Kannada language test conducted by KPSC along with the department exam Kannada Language Requirement Mandatory. Candidates who have not passed the Kannada language exam notified under Govt. Order No. GAD 43 SEN 2020 dated 5.3.2021 (as amended by Govt. Order No. GAD 102 SEN 2022 dated 24-03-2025) - i.e., those who have not passed Kannada as first or second language at PUC/equivalent level - must pass a Kannada language test with a minimum of 50 marks out of 150 (in a paper of one question booklet) to be eligible. Candidates who have previously passed the Karnataka Rajyotsava Kannada exam are exempted from this requirement. Nationality Indian Citizens only Prior Apprenticeship / Ex-servicemen Ex-servicemen candidates must complete their pending service period and must be serving in the present post on the last date of application; they must not be under any departmental inquiry/chargesheet at the time of applying

Minimum age: 18 years. Maximum age (for direct/unreserved candidates): 33 years as on the last date of application. Age relaxation is available as per Karnataka Government norms. A one-time relaxation of 5 years in upper age limit is available for candidates who have been unjustly denied age relaxation as per Govt. Order No. GAD 262 SEN 2025 dated 29.01.2026. | Category (Direct / Male, Female & Third Gender) Maximum Age General Merit (UR) 33 years SC / ST / Category-1 / Cat-2A / Cat-2B / Cat-3A / Cat-3B candidates 35 years Budakattu (Forest Tribal) candidates residing in Karnataka forest areas 38 years | Category (Ex-Servicemen – Male & Female) Maximum Age General Merit (UR) 38 years SC / ST / Category-1 / Cat-2A / Cat-2B / Cat-3A / Cat-3B candidates 40 years | Note: Ex-servicemen must have completed 5 years of service in Karnataka Police in the PC (Civil) cadre posts (P.C.R./D.A.R./K.S.R./P.I./A.R.B./K.S.I.W./Etc.) by the last date of application and must be currently serving in those posts. They must have completed the minimum service period and must not be under any departmental inquiry/chargesheet at the time of application. Ex-servicemen from Army are entitled to 3 years of additional age relaxation for the "Avara Sevaselliside Avadhi" (period of active service). "Ex-servicemen" as defined under Army Act 1950 - Gallantry Award winners are also included.
