JKPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 - Apply Online for 70 Posts

The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has invited online applications for filling up 70 backlog vacancies of Assistant Professor across 24 disciplines in Government Colleges under the Higher Education Department (HED), Jammu & Kashmir, vide Notification No. 06-PSC(DR-P) of 2026 dated 31 July 2026. Only domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir possessing the prescribed academic/professional qualification and age are eligible to apply. The application form will be available on the JKPSC website from 1 August 2026, and the last date to complete the online application, including fee payment and document upload, is 31 August 2026. Age will be reckoned as on 1 January 2026, and selection will be made as per Rule 45 of the JKPSC (Business & Procedure) Rules, 2021, through a written examination followed by the Commission's selection process.

Option A: A Master's Degree with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/Differently Abled/PhD degree holders who obtained their Master's Degree prior to 19 September 1991), or an equivalent grade on a point scale, in the concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. Candidates must also have cleared NET conducted by UGC/CSIR, or an equivalent test accredited by UGC such as SLET/SET, OR hold a PhD degree awarded in accordance with UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of M.Phil/PhD Degree) Regulations 2009 or 2016 (subject to specified conditions such as evaluation by two external examiners, an open PhD viva voce, and publication/presentation of research papers). NET/SLET/SET is not required for disciplines in which it is not conducted by UGC/CSIR or similar accredited bodies. | Option B: A PhD Degree obtained from a foreign university/institution ranked among the top 500 in the world by QS World University Rankings, The Times Higher Education (THE), or the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) by Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Selected candidates will be appointed in the Pay Band of ₹15,600–39,100 with Academic Grade Pay (AGP) of ₹6,000 (Pre-revised), equivalent to ₹57,000 in Level-10 of the applicable pay matrix.

1. A written examination consisting of a single paper of 3 hours' duration, carrying 120 multiple choice questions. The syllabus is available on the official JKPSC website.
2. The written examination will be held at Srinagar and Jammu centres, as opted by the candidate; centre allotment is at the sole discretion of the Commission.
3. Admit cards will be available for download about two weeks before the examination date on jkpsc.nic.in.
4. Document verification will follow, where candidates must produce original certificates supporting all claims made in the application, including educational qualification, age, category, and domicile.
