About this recruitment

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has invited unmarried Indian male and female candidates to appear in an Open Recruitment Rally from 31 August 2026 to 07 September 2026 to join as Agniveervayu (Other Than Science Subjects), under Agniveervayu Intake 01/2027. The rally will be held at two venues: Chumoukedima (Nagaland) and Sri Vijaya Puram (Andaman & Nicobar Islands).

Eligibility

Passed Intermediate/10+2/Equivalent Examination in any stream/subjects from a Central/State/UT recognised Education Board, with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English. | OR passed a two-year Vocational Course from a recognised Education Board with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% in English in the Vocational Course (or in Intermediate/Matriculation, if English is not a subject in the Vocational Course). | OR passed a three-year Diploma Course in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Automobile/Computer Science/Instrumentation Technology/Information Technology) from a recognised Polytechnic Institute, with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% in English in the Diploma Course (or in Intermediate/Matriculation, if English is not a subject in the Diploma Course).

Pay and allowances

Agniveervayu personnel are paid a customised Agniveer package that increases each year of the 4-year engagement, split between an in-hand component and a contribution to the Agniveer Corpus Fund (matched by the Government of India). Seva Nidhi Package (Terminal Benefits) On completion of the 4-year engagement, Agniveervayu will receive a one-time Seva Nidhi package. The total contribution to the Agniveer Corpus Fund after 4 years is approximately ₹5.02 lakh from the candidate's monthly contributions, matched by approximately ₹5.02 lakh from the Government of India, resulting in an approximate Seva Nidhi payout of ₹10.04 lakh (absolute amount, excluding interest). Agniveervayu are not required to contribute to any Provident Fund and are not entitled to gratuity or pensionary benefits. Insurance and Other Benefits Non-contributory Life Insurance cover of ₹48 lakh for the duration of the engagement period. Annual leave of 30 days per year; sick leave based on medical advice from a competent Medical Authority. Medical facility at service hospitals and CSD provisions during the engagement period. A detailed Agniveer Skill Certificate is provided at the end of the engagement, highlighting skills and competency acquired. Agniveervayu are not eligible for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) status after discharge on completion of the 4-year engagement. Up to 25% of each Agniveervayu batch may be offered an opportunity to apply for enrolment into the Regular Cadre as Airman, based on organisational requirements, performance, and objective criteria; there is no right to further enrolment.

Selection process

  1. Verification of Eligibility: Original/DigiLocker-verified educational certificates and other applicable documents (domicile, COAFP, NCC, discharge certificate, etc.) are scrutinised prior to the Physical Fitness Test.
  2. Physical Fitness Test (PFT): PFT-I: 1.6 Km run — male candidates within 7 minutes, female candidates within 8 minutes.
  3. PFT-II (after 10 minutes recuperation): Male candidates — 10 push-ups (1 min), 10 sit-ups (1 min), 20 squats (1 min), with rest breaks between exercises. Female candidates — 10 sit-ups (1 min 30 sec), 15 squats (1 min), with rest breaks between exercises.
  4. Written Test: Objective type, bilingual (English & Hindi, except the English paper), duration 45 minutes, comprising English (20 questions, as per 10+2 CBSE syllabus) and Reasoning & General Awareness/RAGA (30 questions). Candidates must qualify each paper separately. Marking: +1 for each correct answer, 0 for unattempted questions, and -0.25 for each wrong answer or multiple-option answer. Results are declared the same day.
  5. Adaptability Test-I (AT-I): Objective written test assessing suitability for employment in varied geographic, weather, and operational conditions.
  6. Adaptability Test-II (AT-II): Assesses adaptability to Indian Air Force environment and military way of life; conducted the same or a subsequent day.
  7. Medical Examination: Conducted in September 2026 at Jorhat (for 11 ASC) and Sri Vijaya Puram (for 8 ASC), including baseline investigations such as blood haemogram, urine RE/ME, blood sugar, serum cholesterol, RFT, LFT, chest radiograph, ECG, and (for female candidates) ultrasonography of the lower abdomen and pelvis.
  8. Appeal Medical Board (AMB): Candidates declared medically unfit may appeal by depositing ₹40 via e-MRO/MRO within three working days of the medical examination.
  9. Provisional Select List and Enrolment: The state-wise Provisional Select List (PSL) is prepared based on performance and state-wise cut-offs and vacancies; inclusion in the PSL does not guarantee enrolment. The final Enrolment List is published after the PSL.
