GSSSB Horticulture Assistant Recruitment 2026 - Apply Online for 100 Posts

The Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board (GSSSB), Gandhinagar, has invited online applications for 100 vacancies of Bagayat Madadnish (Horticulture Assistant), Class-3, under the Directorate of Horticulture, Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Cooperation Department, Government of Gujarat, vide Advertisement No. 454/202627. Eligible candidates can apply online through the OJAS website ojas.gujarat.gov.in from 3 August 2026 (2:00 PM) to 17 August 2026 (11:59 PM). Candidates must hold a Diploma in Horticulture from a recognized Agriculture/Horticulture University's Polytechnic, along with basic computer knowledge and adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi. The age limit is 18 to 33 years as on 17 August 2026, and selection will be through a single-stage competitive OMR/CBRT examination.

A Diploma in Horticulture obtained from a Polytechnic of any Agriculture/Horticulture University incorporated or established under the Central or State Agriculture/Horticulture Universities Act in India. | Basic knowledge of computer applications as prescribed in the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967. Candidates who do not currently hold this certificate may still apply, but must produce proof of having passed a basic computer knowledge test before receiving their appointment. | Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi, or both.

Selected candidates will be appointed on a fixed pay of ₹26,000 per month for the first five years, as per the applicable Finance Department resolutions. On satisfactory completion of five years of service, candidates will be eligible for regular appointment in the Level-4 pay scale of the 7th Pay Commission, subject to the outcome of pending Supreme Court SLP No. 14124/2012 and SLP No. 14125/2012.

1. The exam is a Computer Based Response Test (CBRT) / OMR-based objective (MCQ) test, consisting of two parts - Part-A and Part-B - in a single question paper.
2. Part-A (90 marks, 90 questions): Reasoning & Data Interpretation (30 marks), Quantitative Aptitude (30 marks), and Constitution of India, Current Affairs, and Gujarati & English Comprehension (30 marks).
3. Part-B (120 marks, 120 questions): Subject-specific questions related to Horticulture and its practical applications, covering Fruit Science, Vegetable Science, Floriculture & Landscape Architecture, Post-Harvest Technology, Natural Resource Management, Plant Protection, Basic Science, Social Science, and current trends in these fields.
4. A combined total of 3 hours (180 minutes) is given for both Part-A and Part-B.
5. Negative marking applies: 1/4th of the marks allotted to a question is deducted for each wrong answer.
6. After the exam, GSSSB will publish a provisional answer key, followed by a final answer key after considering candidate objections.
7. Both Part-A and Part-B have independent minimum qualifying standards of 40% each; no category of candidate can have a qualifying standard below 40% in either part.
8. Based on the combined merit score within qualifying standards, approximately twice the number of category-wise vacancies will be called for document verification, followed by preparation of the final selection list and waiting list.
