District Commissioner Majuli Assam Village Headman Recruitment 2026 - Apply Offline for 10 Posts

The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Majuli (Revenue Branch) has issued an official advertisement dated 14 July 2026 inviting applications to fill 10 vacant Gaonpradhan (village headman) posts across the Majuli Revenue Circle and Ujoni Majuli Revenue Circle. The vacancies have arisen due to the death and retirement of the previous Gaonpradhans. Eligible and interested candidates who are permanent residents of the concerned villages can apply in the prescribed Standard Form of Application (published in Assam Gazette Part IX) between 16 July 2026 and 30 July 2026.

Must be an Indian citizen and a permanent resident of the village or villages under the applied lot. | Must be physically able and mentally sound. | Must not be in default of repayment of any government dues or bank loans. | Preference in appointment will be given to family members of the previous Gaonpradhan; the concerned Mouzadar's opinion will be considered in this regard. | Must not be a government employee. | Must own land/immovable property in his/her own name within the village(s) of the applied lot. | Must not be a member of any political party. | Must be a person of good reputation and social standing. | Must be willing to cooperate with the government/administration during natural disasters or other official programmes. | Must not be involved in any debt-related offence and must not have any criminal case pending. | Must not have more than two living children - except for those who already had more than two children before Notification No. R.L.R.187/2007/Part-204 dated 19/07/2019 came into effect.

Minimum age: 30 years as on 30 July 2026. Maximum age to apply: Not specified in the notification. Tenure limit: The Gaonpradhan post can be held only up to 65 years of age.

Each of the 10 Gaonpradhan posts carries a monthly honorarium of Rs. 14,000/-, as specified against every vacancy in the official table.

1. Shortlisted/eligible candidates will have to appear for an oral (personal) interview.
2. The venue and schedule of the interview will be intimated at a later stage.
3. No written examination is mentioned in the notification.
4. If any submitted document is found to be fraudulent, the candidature will be cancelled immediately and legal action will be taken against the applicant.
