A good academic record with a PhD Degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline. | A Master's degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade on a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed). | A minimum of eight years of teaching and/or research experience in an academic/research position equivalent to Assistant Professor, in a University, College, or accredited research Institution/Industry, with a minimum of seven publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals. | A total research score of 75 , as per the Screening Guidelines annexed to the advertisement. | Option A: An eminent scholar holding a PhD Degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, actively engaged in research, with a minimum of 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals, and a total research score of 120 . Candidates must also have a minimum of ten years of teaching experience as Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor in a University/College, and/or equivalent research experience at University/National-level Institutions, with evidence of having successfully guided a doctoral candidate. | Option B: An outstanding professional holding a PhD Degree in the relevant/allied/applied discipline from an academic institution (not covered under Option A) or industry, who has made a significant contribution to knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, supported by documentary evidence, with ten years of experience.

About this recruitment

The University of Delhi (DU) has released two separate notifications inviting online applications for faculty positions in nine departments. Vide Advt. No. R&P/321/2026 dated 31 July 2026, DU has invited applications for 56 Associate Professor posts in Academic Pay Level-13A, and vide Advt. No. R&P/322/2026, also dated 31 July 2026, applications are invited for 30 Professor posts in Academic Pay Level-14. Both notifications cover the same nine departments: Chemistry, Environmental Studies, Genetics, Geology, Hindi, Linguistics, Operational Research, Philosophy, and Zoology. The last date for receipt of applications for both posts is 20 August 2026, or two weeks from the date of publication of the advertisement in the Employment News, whichever is later. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online through the DU website www.du.ac.in under "Jobs and Opportunities" in the "Work with DU" section.

Pay and allowances

Selected Associate Professors will be placed in Academic Pay Level-13A of the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix, and selected Professors will be placed in Academic Pay Level-14 , both carrying UGC pay scales plus admissible allowances. Discretionary advance increments may be awarded to candidates entering with higher merit, a high number of quality research publications, and relevant experience, at the discretion of the competent University authority based on Selection Committee recommendations.

Selection process

  1. The Screening Committee prepares a list of all candidates in descending order of research score.
  2. Candidates must meet the minimum required research score - 75 for Associate Professor, 120 for Professor - calculated based on research papers, publications, ICT/e-content contributions, research guidance, patents, policy documents, awards/fellowships, and invited lectures, as per the detailed scoring matrix in the Screening Guidelines.
  3. A minimum of 30 candidates for the first vacancy, and 10 candidates for every additional vacancy in each category, are called for interview, based on rank in the screening list. All candidates scoring equal to the cut-off for a category are also shortlisted.
  4. Shortlisted candidates are assessed through a presentation, graded A (Excellent), B (Good), C (Average), or D (Poor) by a Presentation Assessment Committee. This assessment is indicative only and not binding on the Selection Committee.
  5. The duly-constituted Selection Committee makes the final selection decision, which is final and binding.
