BPSSC SI Recruitment 2026: Apply Online for 150 Bihar Police Sub-Inspector Posts

The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has released the BPSSC SI Recruitment 2026 notification (Advt. No. 09/2026) for direct recruitment to 150 posts of Police Sub-Inspector (General Closed Cadre) under the Special Branch of the Home Department (Police Branch), Government of Bihar. Online applications open on 09/07/2026 and close on 09/08/2026. Selection will be through a Preliminary Exam, Main Exam and Physical Efficiency Test (PET). The application fee is Rs. 100/- for all categories, and the cut-off date for age and qualification is 01/08/2025.

Bihar government servants seeking promotion to a higher pay scale/cadre, with a minimum of 3 years of regular service, are eligible for a 5-year relaxation in the maximum age limit. | Ex-servicemen applying for civil posts get a relaxation of 3 years plus the length of their defence service, provided their actual age does not exceed 57 years as on the cut-off date. | A minimum expansion of 5 cm in the chest is mandatory for male candidates. | Chest measurement is not applicable for female candidates. | Female candidates of all categories must have a minimum weight of 48 kg.

1. Number of Questions: 100
2. Duration: 2 hours
3. Marking: 2 marks for each correct answer
4. Subjects: English, General Knowledge, Hindi Language Knowledge, Reasoning and Current Affairs
5. Candidates scoring less than 30% marks will not be considered for the Main Exam
6. Candidates equal to 10 times the number of vacancies (category-wise merit) will be shortlisted for the Main Exam, based on Preliminary Exam scores
7. The exam may be conducted in multiple shifts, with scores normalized using the Equi-Percentile Method
8. Paper I carries 200 questions for 200 marks, with 1 mark for each correct answer and a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
9. A minimum of 30% marks in each paper is mandatory to qualify.
10. Based on Main Exam marks, candidates equal to 3 times the number of vacancies (category-wise merit) will be shortlisted for the Physical Efficiency Test.
